I’ve heard about huge Dandiya Raas “parties” for ages but this is the first time I’ve actually ever been to one! And I can tell you this, they are not kidding. From the time we were there we saw the crowd grow from 15,000 to maybe 20,000 on one of the last nights of the festival. After Falguni Pathak I’m told Preeti & Pinky are the names to reckon with (although I remain mystified about the whole Egyptian decor, did I miss something? Are there Gujju’s in Cairo?) and our Dandiya Raas in Ghatkopar also had a bodybuilder guest star show up on stage! *Lol* My favorite part was of course getting to dress up G-u-j-j-u style courtesy my friend Parul Kakad who happened to be judging one of these massive events the night before… Also props to Heena Jain for her Daindya twirling skills (and to all our boys for playing along!)
