We’ve all seen a fair share of random awards being given to random celebrities, but this seems to be a little too random to me. At the Venice Film Festival, Preity Zinta was given an award for “friendship between nations.” Um… okay?
Now don’t get me wrong, I like PZ, but I sort of don’t get the co-relation? Or rather, I don’t see the point of the award itself; it seems to be a force-fit just to get publicity for a sculpture made by Agatino Cappella.
This is evident by the PR note, which comes with the subject, “Preity Zinta awarded the Platinum Award for friendship between nations” but actually describes the sculpture in detail and tries at the very end to rope Preity into the bargain…
So yup, not seeing the co-relation here, but anything for a little PR, I guess!
