Anmol Jewellers has always been a favorite with A-listers in Bollywood especially at weddings (and now MissMalini’s next in line, yay!) And now, they’ve taken on the noble cause of elephant conservation with a magnificent piece designed for the Emeralds for Elephants initiative. The beautiful piece will be displayed in a three day exhibition at Anmol’s Bandra store.
The piece will be showcased along with other spectacular pieces of Zambian emerald jewelry designed by India’s top ten jewelry designers who were picked from across the country.
Anmol’s design for the endeavor is a tribute to the Kalahasti festival in Kerala which is a grand celebration of the elephant God.
I love how the carved emerald in Anmol’s creation is crafted so beautifully in 18 K gold and the innovative chain gives it a contemporary feel. Anmol Jewellers hosted a lovely evening of wine and some scrumptious finger foods (loved the sinful tiny cupcakes) for their exquisite showcase of the pieces designed for this unique initiative of the Wildlife Trust of India for the Asian elephant, The World Land Trust, Gemfields together with Gemological Institute of America (GIA India).
Ishu Datwani, the founder of Anmol played the perfect host as he welcomed the guests and told them about each piece and its significance.
Minissha Lamba who was there to support this cause which will create a more viable habitat for elephants was totally awestruck by the how the elephant had been so intricately crafted into these priceless designs.
Minissha spoke to me about her love for Anmol’s trendsetting jewels and her personal style statement in jewelry. She interacted with the media and even joked about Anmol designing her wedding jewelry but added that it would have to wait real long. Is Mr. Right listening?!
Shraddha Kapoor looked radiant (I didn’t know she was so hot in real life) as she discussed her love for diamonds and animals. Wow, this is SO the perfect cause for her to support.
The Emeralds for Elephants Initiative will now travel to other cities and be showcased at each of the designer’s boutiques before it culminates into a Sotheby’s auction at The Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai on October 14.
Check out the unveiling of the initiative by Madhuri Dixit which happened in July on MissMalini.
I truly thought that the jewels were enchanting and I wish with all my heart that they can generate awareness and crucial funds for the conservation of endangered Asian elephants, whose Ganpati festival we’re currently celebrating with great pomp and splendor in Mumbai.
