Seems like the week for drama, eh? If you’ve not gotten your fill of the whole Kajal Agarwal incident, no worries, there’s always drama brewing somewhere! This time it’s all thanks to Y Films, the youth branch of Yash Raj Films. Film-critic Mihir Fadnavis panned the trailer of the upcoming film, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (he didn’t “Like” it, apparently) and the result was being called an idiot by Y Films’ official Twitter account. Errr… someone teach that social media manager some PR skills, fast!
It gets better, though. Twitter user @greatbong jumped into the conversation and thus began one of the funniest conversations I’ve read on Twitter in a while.
Um, fair enough, Y Films, but “sucking up” is one thing and lashing out at someone is another.
That’s not all, though. Apparently Y Films found it necessary to give “comebacks” to others calling them out on their bullshit:
The reason for all this drama? They were apparently “offended.”
Here’s the thing, Y Films. I get that it’s not fun having your tweets/movies made fun of on a public forum, but a) that’s what happens when things are up for public consumption, especially a film; b) you’re working in PR! So counter-productive to be insulting your public.
I mean, really, what were they thinking? Whoever’s behind that Twitter account needs to realize they’re not using their personal account and therefore can’t just say what they want to. Here’s to hoping they up their social media marketing (or not, since we clearly get more drama out of it this way!)
