In Anshuman’s words, “Dirty Talk honestly talks about censorship  and its affect on people and society at large. That’s what theatre  should do – tell the truth. And it’s entertaining which is definitely  what theatre should do.”

With Dirty Talk that comes to Prithvi Theatre on August 30th and 31st (Tuesday & Wednesday – book your tickets!), Anshuman Jha completes a decade of acting in theatre and sets foot on his 11th year on stage. Dirty Talk also represented India at the Contact World Theatre Festival in 2010 at Manchester.

You’re familiar with Anshuman Jha from his interview with MissMalini. While his acting stint in Dibakar Banerjee‘s LSD has brought him much popularity, Anshuman Jha’s acting career began on stage. He was only a 15 yr old when he debuted in Ramnath Tharwal‘s Jhagrapoor. After, he featured in innumerable theatre productions like Barry John’s Its All about Money Honey, Q Padamsee’s Kindertransport, Joy Fernander’s Chotu, Mr Kolpert and Girish Karnad’s Bali.

While speaking about his career, Anshuman is quite modest, “I have been blessed with some brilliant teachers and directors. I work on instinct and keep things simple. But sometimes as an actor, simplicity becomes a little boring. In that case, if you can convince people what you’re doing is real and it’s also bigger than life, that’s exciting. And that’s what I have been trying. I work for the audiences because most of them are like me – ordinary people.”
