This was a trip that could have gone all sorts of wrong. My travel partner bailed last minute as he qualified for a certain very famous car race in Italy and obviously could not miss out. Man, did I luck out with not one, but two of my greatest girlfriends being in the area at the same time. My Australian road-trip partner-in-crime, Sara, was on her way from the UK to Italy as well and with a little planning, we met each other upon my arrival in Rome and then ventured our way to France.
Italy with a side of France
Taylor, one of my childhood besties, was to arrive in Italy right before me after a fairytale romance. She reunited with her best friend through school days after his return from Airforce training, had a whirlwind romance and is now living the dream of being married to her best friend, living in Italy and loving life. Awww and completely awesome! Sara and I said our goodbyes on the French beaches and I jumped the next train to Sacile, Italy to visit my favorite newlyweds.
Where: Italy and France
Why: Because as Elizabeth Gilbert says in Eat, Pray, Love “Italian men are like show poodles. Sometimes they look so good I want to applaud…” To be honest though, they are actually quick skeezy and too forthcoming for my taste. I’ll stick to the pasta and vino.
What I loved: Food, culture and bonding time with some of my favorite ladies on the planet.
Ciao! xoxo
