While the fashion fraternity stay glued to the ongoing Lakmé Fashion Week (on and off the ramp), some interesting fashion sightings happened over the past few days. Here’s a quick wrap.
Sonam Kapoor
Looked her elegant best in this one-shouldered, cream Lanvin dress. It fits her like a dream and the make up (one area in which Sonam has erred in the past) too is just right. Perfection is our verdict.
Rani Mukherjee
Just as Sabyasachi Mukherjee was bringing the house down at Grand Hyatt, one of his favourite muses was at NYC. As much as I want to like Rani in this red Sabya gown, I can’t. The silhouette is not doing any favour to her. The make up too (wrong shade of the lipstick, excess bronzer) is completely washing her out. Also the hair looks so limp. Nayyyyy. Hope she ups the ante over the weekend.
Rihanna
Good Girl Gone Bad was rocking it at the launch of her fragrance, Reb’l Fleur it in a very fun, aqua-coloured Antonio Berardi Resort ensemble (the feathered top can be rather risky but girl doesn’t let it overwhelm her) and a pair of regulation, Louboutin nude pumps. Go Girl!!
Anne Hathaway
She was a vision in this black-and-gold Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 dress at the NYC premiere of her latest One Day (I am so eagerly awaiting this one, from the reviews it sounds exactly the kind of love story I love to watch). Her gold accessories (heels and clutch both Christian Louboutin) were the perfect compliments. Also notice how the dress nips at the waist before flaring out, accentuating Ms Hathaway’s slender figure. Oh I am in lust!
Diane Kruger
Diane is my favourite diva (she ranks right up there with Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard) and Prabal Gurung is my synonym for nouveau-chic. So when they come together they should make a fabulous combo, right? Yet when I look at this picture of Diane from last night’s Tiffany& Co. event at Beverly Hills I am not floored. Don’t get me wrong – Diane looks beautiful (like she would, I am certain even in her PJs) but something is amiss. I like the gold and silver embellishments, the matching clutch and her signature, understated make up. But I think it is the translucent bit of the skirt and the sleeves which is kind of putting me off. I guess Diane has set the standards so high that I expect no-less-than-wow from her every time.
As always stay tuned for more fashion hits-and-misses updates.
