It’s no secret that I’m a huge Imtiaz Ali fan. Ranbir Kapoor tops my favourite actors’ list too. Having said that, I can no longer wait for the release of Rockstar. Every now and then, one reads stories of the film either in the newspaper, tabloid or online sans any clarity. Imtiaz had signed on Ranbir close on the heels of his last release Love Aaj Kal. After much consideration, Nargis Fakhri was chosen as the lead opposite Ranbir. Of course, the gossip mills went overboard when they found out she was a contestant on America’s Next Top Model.
When the film was being shot in Delhi, the local paparazzi managed to splash some ‘on the sets’ pictures ‘revealing’ Ranbir’s look.
Then, there was the release date clash with a YRF film that was much spoken about. The word died down as quickly as it came up. Today, a tabloid suggests the delay has to do with the Ashtavinayak/Eros standoff and Imtiaz’s re-shooting portions of the film.
The film was also in the news as it features Shammi Kapoor (also Ranbir Kapoor’s grand uncle) who passed away. May his soul rest in peace. If there is a film that has taken a longish period to shoot and remained in the news for various reasons, it is Rockstar. We say, just come out with already now. Pretty please?
