It was a riot of colours at the unveiling of the festive collection at Melange last night…
There were sarees, stoles, anarkalis, tunics, dresses in vibrant hues of yellow, copper, red, maroon, velvet and pink. Most of the clothes were very regal and festive season-befitting yet not too overwhelming. There was lots of intricate zardozi, embroidery and hand-stitched motifs. What caught my attention was the tie and dye pieces which reminded me of my mom’s wardrobe.
But my favourite section was the Savio Jon collection. I’m a sucker for neutrals and blues and there were some very delicate, balloon-sleeves tops and tunics in those colours which would look very classy when teamed with a simple string of pearls. All without putting a major dent your wallet much (prices range from Rs 6000 – Rs 8000). I am very tempted to go back and pick up that icy blue top!
Some of the designers featured are Anju Modi, Priyadarshani Rao, Pratima Gaurav, Niki Mahajan, Gopi Vaid and Krishna Mehta.
Amongst the accessories what caught my fancy were the very showy, Tuscan umbrellas. Ideal for sashaying down Marine Drive on a rainy afternoon…. a throw back to the Retro Age.
Also the jewellery on display was stunning. Specially a pair of emerald, drop ear rings.
So if you are thinking of starting your festive season shopping early we recommend a trip to Melange. It is a treat for your senses.
