So this summer has witnessed some high-profile, high-fashion weddings. Good for the world. In a world increasingly torn apart by hatred and bitterness maybe what we need is indeed more love.
But I will not go on a Beatles tangent here. Instead we will talk about the beautiful brides and the designers-of-choice for their respective big days.
First on is the fabulous Kate Middleton, now Duchess of Cambridge. Her Alexander Mcqueen wedding dress has now become part of fashion folklore. Its understated elegance had fashion watchers all over the world swooning. It was also a big moment for Sarah Burton who had taken over the helms at Alexander Mcqueen last year after the tragic, untimely death of the incredibly gifted Mr. Mcqueen. The winning feature of the dress was the French Chantilly lace overlay which was hand stitched by the Royal School of Needlework.
Taking a Bollywood digression – I think Deepika Padukone would look sensational in this dress if she ever has a church wedding. Just saying.
Next came the much talked about wedding of supermodel and poster wild-child of fashion, Kate Moss to Jamie Hince. The bride wore a beautiful, vintage-style John Galliano (the axed Creative Director of Dior) gown with a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes. I am totally digging the boho vibe of this look. Plus you have to hand it over to Kate for sticking to her no-bra, messy hair and makeup even on her wedding day. Some consistency that is!
Which one of our Bollywood babes would you want to see this gown on? My vote goes to Kareena Kapoor.
The third on our list is the fairytale wedding of Princess Charlene of Monaco. She donned an exquisite Armani Prive gown. Her off-white, off-the-shoulder gown had floral embroidery and Swarovski crystals details all over. Personally this is my favourite of the three. And the only Bollywood heroine to pull this off will be our resident diva- the statuesque Sonam Kapoor. You agree?
