So I don’t know how many of you know this but I was actually born in Allahabad, granted I left 6 months later but I still feel quite proud of the fact that I share my birth place with Amitabh Bachchan himself! In fact my grandfather Prakash Chandra Jain was an economics professor at the University of Allahabad (he even wrote a book called “Economic problems of India” back in 1969) and it’s amazing how many people I still run into who remember him. (I mostly remember him as looking a whole lot like Yoda with wisdom to match!) Anyway I digress, the reason this all came up is because I got a press note about the star of Love Sex Dhoka, Anshuman Jha shooting with the Big B. for an exclusive television promo. After my Close Up encounter with Anshuman we had gotten to talking and discovered we were both from Allahabad and had a nice bonding chat over it on Facebook.
Now it turns out both the Allahabad Born boys ended up shooting a KBC promo at Mehboob Studio in May, breaking out some trademark hardcore Hindi that everyone is loving! One a Legend of the Hindi Film Industry & the other, one of the most promising debuts of 2010 (Anshuman Jha’s second feature Boys To Boys Hain is scheduled for an August release in which he plays a Sardar.) KBC 5 2011 starts August 15th.
Anshuman says,
“This promo has a unique concept backed up with a hilarious script-Directed at the common man. Maybe that’s why I appeal to the director and the audiences because even I’m a common man with just un-common dreams. I just try hard as should everyone else. Of course the opportunity to work with Mr. Bachchan was a luring factor. Everyone’s a dwarf in-front of him, always will be & for obvious reasons.”
