*I can’t believe it’s all coming together somehow, here’s the wedding update I promised you!
Yes of course we made a wedding website! This would of course be of no surprise to anyone who knows me (and the #geekchic enthu-cutlet that I truly am!) What’s really wonderful is that my husband-to-be (haha what a Harry Potter moment, like you-know-who or the the-one-who-cannot-be-named!) did the research and found the top-rated one online, love him 🙂
None of this would have happened of course without my ace wedding planner Candice Pereira of MarryMeWeddings (read her blog!) making sure we stuck to schedule and got cracking on the wedding list. So now, not only are we sorted for both our venues we’ve got a laundry list of suitable places to stay in the area with special rates for the wedding party and a website that tells you how to get there and whom to call. Boom. I heart you MarryMeWeddings, I may be a domestically challenged desi bride, but at least I’m a stress-free one! xoxo
Save the Date
If you’re taking notes write this one down: it is very important to send out a save the date as soon as you’re quite sure you’re getting married (and the dates won’t change) this helps friends and family (especially those on a school calendar) plan holidays, travel and accommodation and helps YOU avoid some awkward bride wars with your girlfriends who may be thinking of getting hitched around the same time!Imran from Eggless Lovecake made ours. Isn’t it cute? They do logos, identities, websites, print media, user interface and user experience design among other things. If you need any of those call him! +9198700 94988 or email
imran@itseggless.com.
Dream Destinations
While our initial plan was to get married in December we moved our dates to February because it’s a lot less hectic and my dream destination would be available then 🙂 Remember I told you about Paul and Caoilinn’s beach wedding at Marbela Beach Resort which they co-own with Jaydeep Rajebhosale? Well I really had my heart set on getting married there and thanks to the wonderful Marbela peeps, come February next year I’ll be tying the knot at sunset at Marbela Beach Resort and celebrating over cocktails and dinner with 200 of my and Nowshad’s closest friends and family! They even have a super-cool 2 minute video from their wedding on YouTube, check it out!
You like? Then show them some love on Facebook loads more pictures there too and one of the few places in Goa that actually looks exactly like its pictures in real life! (Heck, even Speedo Man loves the spot, remember him?!) *Lol*
Psst! If in case you’re also looking for a wedding venue, vacation spot or a place to party it up on New Year’s Eve hit them up on info@marbelabeach.com (tell them I sent you!)
We’ve also scored Montego Bay right in the area for the Mehendi & Sangeet so everyone stays close by. Alvin knowns us well and we’ve camped out at the Montego Bay tents repeatedly over the years so it’ll be a great memory for our post-wedding visits! Planning yours? Facebook them here and email info@montegobaygoa.com.
*Remember if you’re having a destination wedding it is crucial that you account for travel-time and logistics for all your guests (especially those first-timers in India) picking two locations close to each other and doing an accommodation recce will ensure you have enough spots for everyone!
Designer Heaven
My next blog will of course be about the wedding shopping I plan to do in detail, so far I’ve found the cutest magenta lehenga at Seasons in Juhu, Junelia Aguiar is helping me figure out super-cute beach wedding looks and Anita Dongre just made my year by offering to do my wedding ensembles for both Dhaka and Goa. Yaaay! I’m excited about wearing a sari from her Timeless collection in Bangladesh and I especially loved the hair flower accessories during Lakmé Fashion Week Spring/Resort 2011 which Sue dubbed a very cute beach wedding look. Plus she’s now all about The New Global Desi Girl, sound like anyone you know? 🙂
Serious Serendipity. Loving all the signs everywhere that I am definitely on the right track!
Message in a Bottle
If you pay close attention to the wedding website (and save the date theme) you’ve probably already figured this out! If not, I’m very proud to say I thought this one up all by myself (knowing without a doubt that MarryMeWeddings will make it all somehow materialize. Since we’re going for a non-religious themed wedding it’s hard to find wedding cards with a suitable motif, so instead I figured why not do a scroll in a glass bottle instead?!
P.S. Bollywood junkies, I think Imran Khan’s was similar! Whaddya think? 🙂
That’s it for now folks but as and when I figure out the rest of the bells and whistles I promise that this domestically challenged desi bride shall keep you posted! xoxo
