Tote on the turf dazzled as S2, an all new range of limited jewelry was launched here on a rainy Thursday evening. The 2011 collection titled
Born Free r
epresents a unique collaboration between luxury jewelry designer, Poonam Soni and acclaimed artist and fitness expert, Nawaz Singhania.
S2 which stands for Soni- Sighania is a range of bespoke French sautoirs. The collection is woven around innovative, miniature paintings created by Nawaz. Each oil on canvas painting is based on the concept of movement and speed.
My conversation with Poonam gave me a sense of how she felt that there was nothing that Indian women could wear which combined traditional Indian craftsmanship like patchhi style motifs with a modern artistic sensibility. The collection uses a medium of silver, gold and antique rose cuts with precious gems. Each piece in the collection has silver chains studded with antique rose-cuts which are punctuated by ‘bugs’ and leather loops.
The Bohemian style pieces of art are a reflection of the vibrant young woman of today. I love how each piece is detachable and can worn as a long drape or a neck piece which makes it perfect for formal occasions as well as a casual evening about town. For the preview, Laila Lamba, Pooja Bedi, Ira Dubey, Mana Shetty and Kriti Soni (Poonam’s daughter) wore stunning French Sautoirs from the S2 collection.
For the young woman of today the collection is a unique blend of style and intricate elegance. So, it’s perfect for when you want to make a statement. Let’s hope S2 has more such brilliance to offer in the future.
