You might remember the first edition of the Vogue School Of Style that Sue covered. On Saturday afternoon, I went for the second. Archana Walavalkar hosted this one too and shared some interesting tips on how you can make your wardrobe work for you. Most women often forget that the thumb rule to dressing right is dressing according to your body type. You could have an hourglass, skittle, pear, goblet, apple or column shape and you need to pick clothes that suit the shape. I loved what Archana said, “We are not factory-made. So, factory-made clothes need to be altered to suit us. A little nip and tuck is necessary”.
It also important to reinvent the same piece by pairing it with different items from your wardrobe. Adding a necklace, changing your bag or putting on a jacket takes you from the boardroom to the bar. A really helpful tip and a sure way to always look glamorous is to keep your essentials in a drawer at your workplace. Tuck in a shimmery jacket, a pair of heels, a small clutch and make-up and you won’t be in a fix when you need to rush out for a meeting or a party. Work wear need not necessarily mean suits. You can also wear kurtas that don’t have slits on the sides or saris in pastel colours. As an Indian, you have the advantage of wearing traditional clothes formally. You can even wear ethnic jewellery to mix up your Western wear. The most fun tip of the evening was an inventive way to wear a belt. If your belt is too long, simply knot it up at the centre. It looks very chic. Most importantly, no look is complete without a CAP – confidence, attitude and personality. If you missed this school session, make sure to catch the next Vogue School Of Style for some valuable lessons and answers to fashion queries.
