Hair Styles to Keep you Cool and in Vogue This Summer

Sapna Bhavnani – Rocking the Mohawk

I recently Spotted Sapna Bhavnani sporting a very edgy mohawk, and thought to myself, I wonder what hair styles are in trend for Summer. At LFW there was a huge frizzy hair revival, almost all shows had big crimped hair, but it’s a look that most don’t have the guts to pull off. When you think of summer, I think, comfort and ease is the way to go. That’s why for this Spring/Summer I feel classic styles are the way to go, but add a modern twist!

The Chignon

Chignon

Whether you’re going out for a formal occasion or lunch with the girls, this up do is the easiest and the most chic. Follow Angelina Joli and sleek it all back into a tight bun to give your face it’s due. Alternatively, opt for a softer version (like Frieda Pinto), with sections of the hair pulled back loosely. Make this look contemporary by putting your chignon to the side rather than just at the nape.

The Braid

The Braid

A personal favourite, the braid is back but more romantic than ever. Do a messy braid to the side, and add some flowers (like Anita Dongre for LFW S/R 11) for an ultra feminine look. Or, keep it simple with a tiny french braid at your hair line, which is swept to the side like Ms. Aniston. It’s a day to night look can add a bit of drama to your hair for summer.

Short Hair

Short Hair

If you’re one of the many who have had it with long hair, and the heat, well this next look is just for you. Mandira Bedi and Emma Watson, look super cute in their pixie hair cuts. Whether you have curly hair of straight, it’s easy to maintain and immensely liberating! Take the plunge or rather the cut and try this look for summer.

The Pony Tail

Pony Tail

Yes we’ve all done it, but here is how to make it work for parties or for a movie date. It’s all about a high pony tail this season, with a little back coming at the crown of the head to add volume and a pronounce side sweep of hair to frame the face. If you’re a high fashion vixen then go for the high pony tail with you’re hair slicked back and kept ultra neat. Use a section of hair from your nape to wrap around your rubber band. Then use a bobby pin to hold in place. This hides the rubber band and keeps the look very fashionable.

The Fringe

The Fringe

I have to admit I’ve seen some disastrous fringes. This look is not for anyone and almost always takes a lot of maintenance, but if you can pull it off, it’s very sexy. I too fell into the trap of wanting a fringe, and this summer I might just get one. Fringes make the rounds in therms of trends, but if it’s a look that suits you then rock it. Plus if it gets in your way to much you can always clip it up into a puff just like Snooki from Jersey Shore.
