Fox Star Studios (that gave us 3D blockbuster Avatar) has roped in a host of Bollywood artistes for their upcoming 3D treat Rio. Director Carlos Saldanha (of Ice Age fame) has used the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and rain forest of Brazil as a setting. The story goes that a rare macaw by the name of BLU thinks he’s the last of his kind only to discover that she’s actually a ‘she’ and thus leaves her small town cage in Minnesota for Rio.
Where does Bollywood fit in this comic adventure?
Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak will dub for the characters playing Blu’s friends, NICO and PEDRO respectively. Adding to the entertainment value will be Hindi songs especially composed and sung by Shaan.
You remember when Shah Rukh Khan and his son dubbed for The Incredibles in 2004? Rio will be the first Hollywood movie since to get a host of B-town personalities. It’s going to be even more exciting because voice overs of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Will.I.Am, Robin Thicke, George Lopez and Tracy Morgan will be heard in the extravaganza.
Rio is slated for a simultaneous worldwide release on April 8th in India in both English and Hindi.
