I walked into Le Mill and noticed something that resembled a bird, I continued to walk around and the number of birds grew. Pretty soon, I was half-convinced I was on Alfred Hitchcock‘s set of ‘The Birds‘. I spoke with the architect and he told me when they first came to the space (a rice mill), they were greeted by crows and birds of all kinds. As a tribute to them and to welcome their customers as they were greeted, they’ve maintained the decor of the birds. Le Mill is a huge space (15,000 sq. feet to be precise). With the decor, they’ve tried to recreate a mill and succeeded to a large extent. There are various categories: home décor, furniture, textiles, carpets, ready to wear and accessories. It also houses a café, a flower shop, bookstore and an exhibition space. Le Mill’s Café team produces an array of organic food under the supervision of Chef Nicole, who has worked alongside Gordon Ramsey for the past 8 years. As Sikander Kher pointed out, the place is a little difficult to get to and not of too much interest to a boy. Although, they did have information signs on the street (a rarity in our city). Overall, the place has a fun vibe and some interesting books and a personalized stationery section that caught my eye.
