Yesterday I went to preview Emporio Armani‘s Spring Summer 2011 collection. Their new store in Mumbai is situated at Phoenix mills’ Palladium. Check out the video to get a glimpse into the store, and my picks for the collection. In the picture below are the ‘IT’ bags and shoes of the collection for both men and women (Mr. Armani’s personal picks).
Review :Women’s Wear Spring Summer 2011
The women’s wear collection is called Fancy girl and it’s a fresh clean structured collection. Personally, I loved the colour palette. It was a perfect mix of bright blues, greens and reds with grays, black and creamy white. This collection offers a lot of separates, which can be worn with other pieces from the collection or from your own wardrobe. Each garment had a matt shine, that gave the collection a feeling of being light.
I particularly liked the idea of a short summer jacket, which was seen a lot in this collection. My favorite being the stripped jacket with strong boxy shoulders, and a white one with pockets and epaulet straps. There were a lot of short skirts and shorts on offer, but one that really stood out was a turquoise blue short skirt. Teamed up with the cropped white jacket, it’s the perfect chic summer look.
Armani offers a lot of fun, summer bright accessories, from belts, to bags and to shoes. The medium strap green shoulder bag is perfect for the party girl out there. The coral orange patent clutch is a fun colour to add to your summer outfits or even to take with you to brunch! There are a lot of great choices for shoes, but a pair of nude heels caught my eye immediately as I walked into the store. It’s an unusual pair with an acrylic badge on them with a tiny gold Armani logo embedded on it; a wardrobe staple for sure. The ankle strap flats in blue and beige are minimalist to the core and can probably work with any outfit in your closet, a definite must have this season.
Review: Men’s Wear Spring Summer 2011
The spring summer collection for men is a sea of blues, browns and whites. Its a contemporary statement on dressing, with a spin on basic garments like jackets and t-shirts. It’s a collection for the city man, that reflects his fast paced life, keeping in mind his comfort. Although, the garments form the runway have a powerful erotic appeal, the men’s wear selection at the Mumbai store is more tame.
This season, Armani gives you the softest and lightest creponne, which believe me, is ultra comfortable and perfect for the Mumbai heat, wouldn’t mind getting one for myself! Prints of chains are another feature in the collection, which can been seen on t-shirts and shirts. These are great for brunch or to a casual party, it gives you that casual charm yet still keeps you looking sophisticated.
The stand out for me for the Men’s wear collection, has to be the shoes, from blue loafers to grey camouflage lace ups and even neon green high-tops, these shoes are a statement that you boys just have to make. I would suggest picking up a pair to jazz up your wardrobe. especially if you’re a man who loves his basics, these will add that pop of excitement. My favorite has to be the blue loafers, they just ooze style and class but in a quirky way.
