The weather has definitely turned for the better, egging on that Christmas/winter feeling; like someone said on Facebook, its like God turned the AC on. Lol. So if there ever was a time to wear red and green, it is now! Which is why Sue Catellino (my assistant fashion writer) put together some ways for you to bring out those colours from your closet and add to the festive spirit. When dressing in Red and Green this year try and keep your age in mind. Even though style is timeless, there is nothing worse than looking too old or trying to look too young. Here are some tips to keep in mind when rocking out this season’s festive colours.
In your 20’s
Try out short sequined or off shoulder mini dresses, even add some romance with frills and subtle drapes. Team these dresses with a short leather jacket for an edgy look. Take risks with interesting heels in funky colours. Finish off the look with chunky bangles to show off your toned arms.
In your 30’s
Look out for structure and draped knee length dresses that accentuate the waist for a touch of sophistication. Instead of the edgy black jacket, try fitted jackets in grey and slate. Opt for peep toe or strappy nude heels that can be worn for work or to a party. Round the look off with some vintage drop earrings.
In your 40’s
Try dresses that have an interesting texture or drape, or team up feminine blouses with chic pencil skirts. Go for beige or tan colour jackets in classic cuts to stand out from the crowd. Think classic with a sleek pair of high heel pumps in black, nude or even with a little sparkle. Draw attention to elegant fingers with cocktail rings.
In your 50’s (and beyond)
Think ultimate Glamour. Go for majestic floor length gowns in the shade of red and green that best suits you. Opt for jackets that elongate the torso and narrow the waist. Dazzles with matte metallic heels in pewter or gold. Finally grab attention with a statement neck-piece.
