(More pix from the send-off party in Mumbai here.)
Psst! You could be there with me, I’m giving out 5 couple passes on my blog, all you have to do is tell me who’s going to Canada in the India Nightlife container, post your answer in the comments below!
India’s Nightlife Experience!
Based on inputs from more than 100,000 people who submitted more than 7,000 suggestions on what the best characteristics of nightlife in India are, Nikhil Chinapa carefully selected the winning entry; which means that the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project in India – Canada can look forward to experiencing two great exponents of electronica in India – Jalebee Cartel and Shaa’ir + Func!
Why Them?
Their music reflects the fusion that is India, with contemporary sounds of electronica interspersed with traditional percussive Indian beats. This theme of fusion will also be seen in the glamorous fashions on display, eclectic dance performances, exotic Smirnoff cocktails and the dramatic décor of the venue, which will be an interesting mix of traditional Indian motifs in a contemporary setting.
Who’s coming to India?
Fans can expect to sample a taste of Toronto, Canada via DJ’s Sultan and Max Graham plus Zara Taylor live on vocals. All three artists represent the cutting edge of electronica music in Canada and will weave their magic for Bengaluru on the 27th of November.
The Cocktail of Choice
For that original drinking experience, Bengaluru will get an opportunity to taste new and exciting maple syrup flavoured Smirnoff cocktails along with the lip-smacking Smirnoff Mule which has been specially created by world-renowned mixologist Kenji Jesse to celebrate The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project.
What Else?
The crowd will also get to experience the great Canadian outdoors and some of its vibrant street culture including street tap and break dance. To further involve the global community around the Nightlife Exchange Project, Smirnoff has created a new collaborative music platform Beat of the World, launching soon – which will allow people from around the world to get involved and help create an exclusive track that will be played at the finale events on 27th November 2010. The track will represent the diverse cultures of the 14 countries taking part in The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project and exchanging the best of their nightlife on 27th November 2010. The pairings for the 12 other countries taking part have been revealed as follows:
Available free online from Smirnoff’s YoutTube Channel, the Beat of the World application enables fans to create their own music videos and share with friends with no formal musical or editing skills required. Simply using a computer’s built-in webcam and microphone, users can record themselves making a variety of sounds, e.g., singing, humming, beating a drum, shaking maracas, playing a tin whistle or all of the above. The output is then processed by the auto-tuning technology and arranged in time to the correct beat to create a pitch perfect DIY music video that can be shared with the world online.
All of the user submissions from around the world will be collected together and excerpts will be used to create the global track – remixed to the melody of Thunderbird by The Golden Filter – which will then be showcased at each of the 14 events on November 27th.
