Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Harry Cheng of Maido India (also the “been there, done that guy”) announced a new partnership “to bring Japanese inspired designs to India, and the world”, over a quaint Japanese tea ceremony hosted in Mumbai at the Four Seasons Hotel on Monday. Didjya know? Narendra Kumar will open the upcoming Van Heusen India Men’s Week (VHIMW) in Delhi on August 27th at the Grand Hotel, Vasant Kunj. His show is entirely inspired and crafted with Japan in mind and I’m really hoping he makes some of these jackets for women soon as well, SO funky! The Japanese afternoon in Mumbai saw two ladies dressed in the traditional Japanese “Yukata” conduct the tea ceremony to showcase the elegance of “omotenashi” which means “true Japanese hospitality of welcoming and treating the guest with utmost respect.” This was followed by a sneak preview of Narendra Kumar’s Japan inspired collections for the Van Heusen Men’s Week. The models Neil (remember I told you about him here first?), Asif and Freddy sat through the Japanese tea ceremony dressed in robes, which were then removed to reveal Narendra’s Japan inspired garments. Also spotted: Henry Tham who sat for the tea ceremony too.
P.S. I heart Henry and Ashita Tham, we had such a blast in Goa once 🙂
