Its that day of the week again where I give you the Bollywood’s buzz in my weekly Desi Hits blog! So here’s the scoop and don’t forget to check out all my videos through the week right here! Ok, so first order of business (and age before beauty) the delightfully hilarious Boman Irani (who you’ve most recently seen as the somewhat insane dean in 3 Idiots) celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary earlier this week. I’m told the real star of the evening was the delectable Parsi food even though Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan definitely upped the glam quotient!
Fat Chance, Zarine Khan.
And I simply must set the record straight since everyone has noticed just how much “baby fat” Zarine Khan seems to be carrying around in Veer. Now the thing is she did happen to weigh more than 100kgs as a teenager (a really sad story in fact of food becoming her friend after her father left home when she was just 18) but eventually she hit the gym and lost it all (the weight that is.) So why so chunky cheese on screen you may ask? “Salman always says that I am destiny’s child and that is why I was chosen for this film. I was thin when walked into this film, but then I was told to go on a chocolate diet and gain weight, because princesses in those days were never skinny.” So can we please pull back on the whole calling names thing? (Fatrina is so unflattering!) Just chill she’s shedding the pounds already.
Shah Rukh Khan, re-inventing “Home Movies”
And as if the place wasn’t sick enough, Shah Rukh Khan has gone and built a state-of-the-art mini theatre at Mannat so the next time him and his friends fancy a preview they won’t even have to leave the house! The select few who have seen the 45-seat theater (and alas I am not one of them) can’t stop raving about the sound system and the plush interiors. A source reveals that “The theater was SRK’s idea and Gauri took special interest in making it a reality. The seats recline back with the press of a button and are super-comfortable. There’s also a popcorn machine that serves fresh refreshments.” I guess that’s where trials (and tribulations) of My Name is Khan will be held next month. Till then the kids are having a blast, Aryaan and Suhana have been watching action and animation films in the theater. Awwwww 🙂
