Last Saturday, March 14th saw some celebrity action town-side at Indigo, Mumbai. The launch of V-Day 2009: Women and Men ending violence together by Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal, Kaizad Kotwal, Dolly Thakore, Sonali Sachdev and Avantika Akerkar (Imran Khan’s girlfriend’s namesake only before you get any ideas!)
His girlfriend Avantika Malik looks like this:
Anyway the reason I clarified is lest you make some snap judgement about my favorite new Khan who is lending his voice (and mug) to the nobel cause as well, alongside Farhan Akhtar and Sandip Soparkar who will choreograph a spectacular dance sequence which he will perform along with Jesse Randhawa and Smiley Suri.
FYI: V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The V in V-Day stands for Victory, Violence and Vagina (No kidding.) As part of V-Day India 2009, a special 200th stage show of The Vagina Monologues will be performed on Wednesday, March 25th with the original Vagina Warrior actors who have been a part of the cast since the start of this initiative.
Dolly Thakore rightly praised the changing mindset and attitude of the Indian audience with an increased participation by males and the elderly who no longer shy away (nor giggle) when such topics arise.
