1. Pyar Ka Punch
Where: YouTube
It’s about two married couples who live in the same apartment. It’s a typical Mars versus Venus drama with simple everyday issues couples differ about. The cast is charming, especially Pooja Gor, and themes are relatable.
2. As I’m Suffering From Kadhal
Where: Disney+ Hotstar
It’s another story about three couples from different age groups and diverse backgrounds. One is a young, live-in couple, the other is a divorced couple with a child and the third is childhood sweethearts who are about to get engaged. It’s quirky, funny and shows different relationship dynamics. As a South Indian, I could relate and enjoyed it a lot.
3. You
Where: Netflix
In case you missed it, You is about this obsessive lover Joe Goldberg who is the protagonist and the antagonist of the show. He’s evenly matched by Beck, who is ‘Miss Goody Two Shoes’. The victim-abuser relationship is very layered as both the leads have shades of grey. This is one of my favourite shows, because it is a little twisted.
4. Bang Baaja Baaraat
Where: Amazon Prime Video
This one’s an underrated show! “A marriage is a union of two families”, this best describes this show. Though the lead couple has a similar outlook, their parents come from different backgrounds and cultural values. Things break loose when they decided to get married. It has great casting (a lot of Bollywood regulars), some parts of it are filmy, yet largely relatable. I like this show as it shows our country’s diversity. This clash of cultures makes it interesting.
5. Little Things Season 1
Where: YouTube
Another favorite of mine! It’s a simple show about an extroverted girl with a Type A personality Mithila and her introverted, beta male boyfriend Dhruv. Characters switch between Hindi and English and mostly have first world problems. It’s the most accurate portrayal of urban Indian relationships.
