We’re back with another recipe that’s perfect to try during the lockdown. This time, our gal Vidhi Doshi a.k.a. @ramenhairedgirl sent in her recipe for Dal Vada. It doesn’t require a lot of prep time or cooking time and includes very few ingredients, all of which are mostly available at home all the time. So, if you’re looking to make a quick evening snack, scroll down to check out how you can make Dal Vada in just 5 easy steps.
What You’ll Need
1 cup chana dal
3/4 cup finely chopped onions
2 finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp rice flour
15 chopped curry leaves
Salt to taste
1.5 tsp ginger garlic paste
Here’s How You Can Put It All Together
Step 1: Soak the chana dal In warm water for 3-4 hours.
Step 2: Drain the dal and blend it coarsely without adding any water. Keep it coarse, if it’s too smooth it won’t hold the shape well.
Step 3: To this coarse paste, add the remaining ingredients and mix well with your hands. Heat the oil for deep frying. Once the oil is HOT, reduce the flame to low.
Step 3

Step 4: Grease your hands with a little oil and take a little mixture in your hands. Shape the mixture into thin patties, not too large.

Step 5: Slowly drop these patties into the oil and fry them till golden brown. Don’t make them too thick or else the insides won’t cook.

Step 6: Enjoy with coconut chutney.
