Very recently, Rana Daggubati announced about co-producing a biopic on Muttiah Muralitharan, the former Sri Lankan cricket player. The Baahubali actor enjoys storytelling and shared what made him bankroll the biopic.
He said:
This was a story that came to me from Dar films and writer/director Sripathy Rangasamy. I felt that the biopic was a story that had a lot of conflicts, interesting episodes and one can draw huge inspiration from. Also, the gripping tales behind the life of an international sporting legend makes for a great emotional connect. I strongly believe it’s a story to be dramatised.
Rana also added that this is a global story for all the cricket and sports fans, and will be very inspiring.
He said:
Muralitharan’s story works for me as an entertaining film with a great
. An actor like Vijay Sethupathi (reprising Muralitharan) would just add greatness with his performance.
The producer also revealed that he is more of a movie buff than a cricket buff. But he is definitely looking forward to meeting Muralitharan.
Recently, there were reports about the actor getting a kidney transplant in the USA.
When asked about it, he said:
I think there was enough speculated about it, and I am tired of clarifying too that I am absolutely fine and healthy. So I think rumours on my health are now a boring topic. Whenever I leave Hyderabad, people get apprehensive, but I am thankful for the love and the concern people have been showering on me.
We’re glad Rana is doing absolutely fine.
