Veere Di Wedding has been in the news from the time it has been announced. And while many people are eagerly awaiting the film, we hear that there just might be a delay. The project was supposed to go on floors this month, but will now go on floors after April. The reason? We hear the makers want Kareena Kapoor to deliver before she begins shooting for the film. The actress was ready to shoot, but we’re told the VFX cost of covering her baby bump was turning out to be quite high, affecting the overall budget of the film.
Apparently, the makers have been asking for Rs 34 crores for the project, but the producers at Balaji weren’t okay with this asking rate, especially given their current situation (there have been reports for some time now that Balaji is paying close attention to budgets and are currently not taking on any new films).
The budget discussions were ongoing between the two parties, but according to reports reaching our ears, Balaji is not producing the film anymore. However, when contacted, Balaji CEO Sameer Nair said, “The budget discussions are going on and the pre-production work has started. We are definitely doing the film.”
Still, our source maintains that Balaji is most likely not backing the film anymore, and other studios have already started approaching Rhea Kapoor to bag the deal. We’ll have to wait for official word – our sources tell us a statement will be released soon.
