1) The adage of ‘sex sells’ was proven again by none other than Sunny Leone!
Sex sells? Well, indeed. Especially when it’s packaged well. Sunny Leone proved this when her film –Ragini MMS 2 – opened with an especially great response. The bar was already set when Bala ji unveiled ‘Baby Doll’. The horror film was a clear winner from this point onwards.
2) The youngsters with the biggest debut ever – we’re talking about Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon!
When Sajid Nadiadwala decided to launch a newcomer for his film, many were surprised as he has primarily worked with seasoned actors such as Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. However, his gamble paid off, as he made sure that Tiger Shroff as well as Kriti Sanon recieved star treatment with Sabbir Khan also making his comeback as a director post Kambakkth Ishq. The film did great in terms of being a musical success!
3) Filmistaan – The film that dealt with minimal stars.
Though quite a few films in the which have gone by, have been heralded by high star ratings, one film that was unanimously appreciated by one and all was Filmistaan. Dealing with notorious India and Pakistan border issues, the film got nothing less than four or five star reviews. Unfortunately, the film didn’t fare too well at the box office.
4) The Pakistani newcomer who ventured into every indian girl’s heart – Fawad Khan.
Speaking of Pakistan, one actor who has managed to make a smooth transition across the border is Fawad Khan. His Pakistani TV serials made him popular in India, something that immensely helped with the fan following he procured after Khoobsurat. Rest assured, Fawad is here to stay.
5) The ‘other hero’ who we now know as Rajkummar Rao.
Meanwhile one ‘desi’ hero who has graduated from supporting roles and is now leading from the front is Rajkummar Rao (a.k.a Raj Kumar Yadav). Guess numerology is one of the few factors that have contributed to his rise in stardom post Shahid and City lights. Also, if his jig with Malaika Arora Khan in Dolly Ki Doli is anything to go by, he is in for some fun times ahead!
What do you think – are these newbies here to stay?
