Gauahar Khan‘s slapping incident set the nation in an uproar. While a whole bunch of celebrities came out in support of Gauahar urging her to stay strong, boyfriend Kushal Tandon also expressed some serious concerns about the security at the venue.
Meanwhile, Gauahar had maintained a dignified silence on the matter. She has finally come out in the open to talk about the horrific incident. She held a press conference to officially release her statement about the issue. Here’s what she said:
Yes I was attacked. Thee physical aspect [was] a major part of it, but what that coward tried to do to me – I repeat, tried – mentally was even more grave. If someone is opposed to any ideologies, an educated society and its youth should raise their voice, protest in a peaceful manner and have a dialogue. Not beat, attack and feel [they’ll] be scott free. I am not here to promote any kind of dress code or state that one must or mustn’t wear certain clothes. I’m only here to state that no one – and I repeat, no one – has the right to attack, hurt or torture anybody – be it a woman or man – for exercising what one’s personal beliefs or thoughts might be. I am proud of completing India’s Raw Star and not letting this cowardly attack spoil our amazing finale. I completed the shoot post the attack only to send a message to all the girls and women of India to stand up against this and hold your head high. I read a tweet saying “Gauahar got slapped for wearing chhoti dress, the man should’ve been slapped for wearing chhoti soch.” I hope and trust that Indian judiciary would give him that slap.
Way to go, Gauahar!
