It’s that time of the year again! Today, Mumbai saw it’s first official rainy day of the season, which can mean only one thing for me: it’s time to create my annual monsoon playlist. There’s nothing like this season to bring on that contemplative mood, and whenever I’m in such moods, I always need the right kind of music to go along with it – music that will work as the perfect backdrop to my daydreaming (or wallowing, if it’s that kind of day). I’m sharing my playlist with you all, which features songs that have released after my last monsoon list. Feel free to use this list if you need a quiet moment during all the madness of the season. 🙂
1. Kabhi Jo Badal Barse (Jackpot)
Tu lage mujhe pehli barish ki dua
2. Baarish (Yaariyan)
Mil jaaye isey woh baarish
Jo bhigaa de poori tarah
3. Chaandaniya (2 States)
Adhoori adhoori adhoori kahaani
Adhoora alvida
4. Banjaara (Ek Villain)
Jaise baarish kar de tar, ya marham dard par
Koi mujhko yun mila hai j aise banjaare ko ghar
5. Galliyan -Unplugged (Ek Villain)
Sargoshi si hai khayaalon mein
Tu na ho, phir bhi tu hota hai
6. Muskurane Ki Wajah (City Lights)
O re lamhe tu kahin mat jaa
Ho sake toh umr bhar tham jaa
7. Dil Aaj Kal – Unplugged (Purani Jeans)
Kya tum ho
Kya tum ho wohi?
8. Zehnaseeb (Hasee Toh Phasee)
Tere sang beete har lamhe pe humko naaz hai
Tere sang jo na beete uspe aitraaz hai
9. Manchala (Hasee Toh Phasee)
Rookhi-sookhi dil ki hai zameen
Jaane kahaan gum hui nami
Meri ummeed hai teri baarishein
10. Maahi Ve (Highway)
Yeh jeena bhi, naa jeena bhi
Jo bhi hua hai, woh tumse hua
Oh, and if you’ve had enough of the melancholic songs and want to switch it up, Marv D’Souza suggests Tattad Tattad – you know, for those times where you’re stuck in traffic and are really irritated with the rain!
