“You could say it literally rained on our parade,” chuckles the pretty designer Shruti Sancheti, who was one among the many A-list celebrities to walk the ramp at the Caring With Style fashion show in association with The Cancer Patients Aid Association, in Mumbai, last evening.
The show was held in the open-air at Brabourne Stadium and just a few minutes into the event, it began to pour heavily.
Shruti walked the ramp in a white embroidered saree by Shaina N.C and tells us, “When the heavens opened and showered us all with their blessings, we took it in our stride and decided that the show must go on. It was great fun to walk the ramp in the rain even though many of us had rivulets of mascara running down our face and I’m pretty sure many of the exquisite outfits by Shaina NC and Manish Malhotra, must have got ruined.”
Adds Shruti, “The true spirit of Mumbai was experienced when iconic Bollywood stars like Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh and Juhi Chawla also braved the downpour by walking gracefully down the ramp in the heavily embroidered designs.”
Of course, the real stars of the show, “Were the audience,” said Shruti, “Because they sat through the entire show patiently and with great interest and cheered loudly as they watched the show, sitting under umbrellas which were provided so thoughtfully by the sponsors!”
