If you’re a mum in Mumbai, you probably know how hard it is to find the perfect dress for your little boy or girl. Well, this is what led to Neelakshi and Oiendrila Ray‘s decision to launch their own designer line.
The dream was to create something for miniature adults (they’ve got adorable children too who were the inspiration) whose parents want to dress them up in fashionable clothes and it helps that they use eco-friendly dyes.
Being really passionate about art and design, the sisters knew they could pull this off. The brand has the cutest name, Nee and Oink (which is actually their pet names just put together) and it has totally unique collections that caught my eye.
I love how the launch trunk show at Tote on the Turf felt a little like a fairytale fantasy with birdcages laced with pink carnations and owls (which are a part of the brand’s signature logo) playing peek-a-boo from giant white trees.
The little ones enjoyed getting messy with crayons and sticking squishy noses on owls as the mums and dads indulged in some retail therapy.
Although I love Nee and Oink’s summery white linen dresses for girls, my favorite was their carnival line which is like an explosion of colors on organic fabric with enchanting birds and flowers.
They also have a bling line of party wear in orange with gold sequins for little divas who want to dress up like their mommies (even Neelakshi and Oiendrila were wearing big version of these dresses).
And, if there’s just one thing I could pick up, it would be the grey one-shoulder dress with hand-embroidered smocking with pops of pink.
I love that the collection for boys especially the Jodhpur pants with playful custom-prints is not your usual grey and blue which the little fellas have to settle for.
Rahul Bose was at there to support his friends and he even ordered the cutest purple and orange kids tee to be specially made in his size. Hee Hee. We had a great little chat about his upcoming movie, Vishwaroopam with Kamal Haasan and his summer style.
I had the best time ever shopping for my two-year-old girl, Allisah. And, I gotta say when the stuff is this good, you know you’re coming back for more.
