Just like I did back at Winter/Festive 2010 and Resort Fashion Week in Goa, here are 10 things I loved from Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. (Ok I confess, some I loved, some just cracked me up and I had to show you!) Lemme know what you think, and check out all of Sue and Ranjit’s blogs about LFW for all the lo’ down on your favorite designers. xoxo
1. The Ultimate Blow Dry & Air Brush Make Up
My first stop at Lakmé Fashion Week every day was the Lakme Studio at The Source. I tried out their super fast (and very natural) air brush make up and the ultimate blow dry, the best way to go glam in minutes. I Love!
And seriously, my hair has never felt so fab. Something to do with their root boost products and thickening gel did the trick and I got loads of compliments. Wanna see how it’s done?
2. Disney Couture
Everybody loved Shilpa Chauhan (aka Little Shilpa) and Nitin Bal Chauhan’s spin on the world’s most iconic cartoon characters. And now I’m craving a trip to Disneyland.
3. The Vibe at The Source
The Source was buzzing with activity all week and if only they had thrown in a bar to visit between Talent Box shows it may even have topped the MSA (aka main show area) lounges at the Grand Hyatt next door. I caught up with Monica Dongra and Siddhartha Aryan at the source where he showed me this fab creation out of metallic parts and shells. Very very cool and totally suited miss rocker chic, Shaair who is definitely bringing sexy back!
4. The Things You Don’t See (on TV)
Walking around you may see many things at LFW but what you many not have noticed is the army of stiletto holes in the carpeting! A true testament to just how many fashionable feet roamed the halls all week! Plus props to Rohit Bal for saving the mini-skirted from unsightly mosquito bites. Since his show was outdoors he treated his audience to hot towels and Odomos, well played.
5. Drinking Permits!
All week, every time anyone went to the bar the first question (before “what are you drinking?”) was “do you have a permit?” and if you didn’t, they very kindly issued you on one the spot (for free!) very thoughtful, I thought.
6. DJ Nari, Moves Like Jagger & A Pink Jacket
Narendra Kumar decided to take his ode to Moves Like Jagger all the way and put his models in carrot-top wigs (which looked kinda creepy) but I love that he threw one on too and DJ-ed the show on his iPhone with reckless abandon! #LoveThat. Also love this hot pink jacket in his collection.
7. Big Fat Camera!
I confess we did a double take, is that a camera or a bazooka?!” Dwaipayan Mazumdar smiled sweetly in response.
8. Jatin Varma’s Musical Serenade
I couldn’t quite figure out what I was feeling while watching Jatin Varma’s show until Ranjit hash-tagged one of his tweets “#Romance by Jatin Varma” and that’s exactly what it was, Romance in laser cut dresses to the violin versions of Nothing Else Matters and Sweet Child of Mine by The String Quartet. Beautiful. And as Sue put it – a very ladylike future.
9. My Super Awesome Team!
I have a great team and we have a lot of fun at Lakmé Fashion Week. I remember this day in particular for many reasons I cannot disclose here, right Sue? *lol* but yeah, we’re having a blast and I think it shows!
10. Oh No She Di’int!
…start doing her make up in the front row, during the show. Kinda like, “screw this b*tches, I need to powder my nose!” And… Pooja Mishra strikes again. *lol*
And that’s a wrap folks! But don’t you worry, we’ll be back with loads more action from runways around the world (and parties in the hood!) xoxo
