I discovered a whole new side to Mehboob Studios on Wednesday night (with a gazillion other events going on, I’m SO glad I picked this one!) Because Rahul Khanna, Bandana Tewari, Marco Reggio and Anurag Tyagi hosted an underground ‘do’ to welcome Kiehl’s the iconic East Village Pharmacy from New York to Mumbai! Somehow (and I believe we have KWAN to thank for this) they were able to transform Mehboob Studios into a giant and uber hip East Village style loft thingy (the kind you see in movies, y’know?) and throw an epic party that lasted well beyond Cinderella’s bedtime. (Good thing they have that magic Abyssine under-eye cream stuff to sort you out!)
While I was busy darting around shooting for my new segment on Style Police (watch UTV Bindass on Monday 8pm!) and tweeting pix for my blog, I spotted Karan Johar (greying handsomely), Kaajal Anand, Prerna Goel, Brinda Miller, Aki Narula, Poorna Jaganathan, Pooja Bedi, Shazahn Padamsee Sheetal Malhar, Arjun Khanna, Krsna Mehta, Sarah Jane Dias, Little Shilpa, Haseena Jethmalani, Bhavna Pandey, Nandita Mahtani, Renu Chainani, Deane Pandey, Elina Meswani, Rukhsana Eisa, Amy Jackson, Amrita Puri, Niharika Khan, Queenie Singh, Gaurav & Pratima Bhatia and some very very cute boys (who I fear may bat for the other team *sigh* but what do I care, I’m getting married anyway right? *Lol*)
Indeed I am Manasi, you’re like sunshine 🙂 …and I must confess I’m also very glad I listened to my stylist Shweta from the UTV Style Police crew who suggested I wear this unbelievably orange shift dress because it appears – Fanta sorbet is in season! (And this dress was not kidding. No siree.)
While I’m going to bombard you soon with a series of “Get This Look” blogs (you like those na?) I simply have to do a special mention here for the Delhi Belly belle, Poorna Jagannathan carrying off this gorgeous Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna skirt (which she jokingly claims she ripped off a model at the Mercedez Benz Catwalk India show *lol*) Ballsy, I like it!
PS. Who’s sassy now girl? 🙂
One of the coolest things I spotted however has to be Sarah Jane Dias’ ultra chic keybag! How hot is that? I want! (Throw that on The List would ya.)
Nandita Mahtani must love Marbela Beach in Morjim (Goa) as much as I do. She’s opened her very own cute little store right up on the shore! You MUST pop in and give it a visit, I can’t wait to go back and buy up a storm.
And if you’re wondering (like I was) how come hottie RK threw Kiehl’s such a killer bash? I got the story (straight from the studly source!)
Rahul Khanna: “I’ve used the brand almost exclusively since I was in school in NYC and lived around the corner from their flagship (and, at that time, only) store in the East Village and once went in to look at the vintage motorcycles (the owner was a collector and the store used to be half apothecary/half motorcycle museum.) I got to know some of their sales staff and every time I’d go back in, they’d give me free samples and I became hooked. Internationally, they also make a great line of equine (horse) and canine grooming products and my 4-legged niece (Akshaye’s dog) even uses them. They went on to be the products used on the Concorde and have since been bought over by a big corporation and are now big cheese but I knew them when they were this high… :)”
…and there’s the rub! Sweet na? Facebook them here: KiehlsIndia
I also thought their quirky and celebrated mascot, Mr. Bones was quite charming, in a weird sort of way… (I hear he’s on the cusp.)
Throw in a Harley Davidson and you’ve got yourself a meat-packing district sort of party! And I was most pleased to see my old favorites, Cointreau-politan at the bar and a Twitter wall (*courtesy @Mind_Shifters) for all the #geekchic to enjoy. Supreme icing on the well-funky cake was of course Shaa’ir & Func and Bhavishyavani Future Soundz who had everybody grooving big time.
Excellent stuff kids, when can we do it again? 🙂
And since you ask, yes THAT is why it took me so long to post this blog #busted – a thousand apologies 🙂 xoxo
