Saturday night saw several Bollywood belles and boys on the edge of their VVIP seats itching to grab the coveted Filmfare statute in front of the entire filmy fraternity. The 54th Idea Filmfare Awards 2008 was a glittering affair at Mumbai’s plush Yashraj Studio.
The GenNext emcees were Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone, Konkona Sen Sharma and Farhan Akhtar led by “host with the most” Karan Johar, evidently script writers around the city have been warned not to relive the Sajid Khan – Ashutosh Gowarikar fiasco and everyone was very “PC.” In fact, Ranbir and Imran started the show saying, “Hum jo kuch kahenge accha kahenge.”
Highlights of the evening included razzle-dazzle performances by Katrina Kaif (swinging to songs from Singh is King and Yuvraaj, Shahid Kapoor (dancer extraordinaire) put on an pumping performance, a medley of his chartbusters Mauja hi Mauja and Nagada. Bipasha Basu and Neil Nitin Mukesh performed tracks from their upcoming movie Aa Dekhe Zara. Abhishek Bachchan made a special entry with the title track of Delhi 6 and did his Dostana number Desi Girl. Jackie Bhagnani made his debut performance, Farhan Akhtar and his band Rock-ed On to the finale.
