Karan Mehra quit his popular show Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai after adeptly portraying the character of Naitik for more than 7 years. The popular actor had health issues which became unavoidable after a certain point, leading him to leave the show. However, the man is now hale and hearty and all set to enter Bigg Boss Season 10.
We caught up with him moments before he stepped into the house and he told us:
People were disappointed (about quitting the show), but a lot of people knew why I was leaving the show and they kind of supported that fact. They said no matter where you go, we are with you. That is something very positive that I received from the fans. I have been battling it (health problems) for almost an year now, it started last year in September. It’s not easy having injections being given to you every week. But it’s something I don’t talk about. I don’t like talking about my problems and till date I haven’t told anybody about the problem. But I am recovering now.
What does he plan to do in the house then, as it has a history of people quarrelling for food?
I can eat normal stuff. There are restrictions for food but there are other things that will be available. And of course, I am going to take care of myself also, so that should be okay.
Will his popularity as Naitik earn him brownie points from the viewers?
Of course not, because that was a role I was playing. Naitik was an extension of Karan Mehra. For years, they have been seeing me as Naitik and now they will get a chance to see me as Karan. Everybody has a perception of who I am and a lot of things will come to light, seeing me in my real life, how I am as a person, what all things I stand for, how I handle situations and how I live my life.
Fair enough!
So, what is he going to miss the most about the outside world once he is locked inside the Bigg Boss house?
I am going to miss my wife (Nisha Rawal) the most. We have never stayed apart from each other for that long a period. We are very used to each other, so it’s going to be difficult. Apart from that, I am going to miss leading a normal life.
Awww, that’s sweet! Good luck for the new innings!
