Bollywood has always given us the best romantic movies. From star-crossed lovers to happy romances to young couples killing themselves because their family disprove of their relationship, movies with a heavy dose of romance always work. But today the Bollywood team sat together to discuss what would really happen after the ‘happy ending’ shown in our films? Would the couple really last after their ‘honeymoon phase’ is over and when reality sets in? Take Ram and Leela for example, they worked because they died. Wouldn’t their brashness and quick temper cause a lot of trouble in their relationship? And what about Nandini and Sameer in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam? She definitely wouldn’t be able to live with Sameer, after Vanraj did so much for her, I’m glad SLB ended the movie the way he did. Know what I mean? So let’s have a look at the on-screen couples of Bollywood who definitely wouldn’t last in real life.
1) Kabir and Naina (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani)
I know, I know, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is like the best movie ever according to many. Ranbir and Deepika have sexbomb chemistry, songs are amazing, Bunny inspired you to travel. I get it, I really do. But do you think someone as free-spirited as Kabir would be happy with someone as grounded as Naina? Opposites attract, yes they do, and she brings the kind of stability he always needed. But won’t he start resenting her once their honeymoon phase is over? I think he will.
2) Gautam and Meera (Cocktail)
He’s totes gonna cheat on her. An ass like Gautam doesn’t deserve Meera nor Veronica. I’ve written an entire blog about it.
3) Tanu and Manu (Tanu Weds Manu)
They needed marriage counselling in the sequel, they’ll definitely be going through divorce proceedings in the third. Tanu and Manu are dysfunctional and after a point Tanu will get bored again and Manu will regret losing out on Datto.
4) Raj and Sonia (Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai)
Listen, Sonia ended up with Raj just because he looked exactly like the love of her life, Rohit. This is the creepiest reason to be with someone.
5) Raja and Aarti (Raja Hindustani)
The love between Raja and Aarti was pure, I’m sure. But let’s not forget that Aarti came from a super-rich family, and Raja was after all, a taxi driver. I know love conquers all, but how do you pay the bills, especially when the wife is used to a particular lifestyle? On top of that, they also have a child and raising one is super expensive.
6) Jay and Simran (I Hate Luv Storys)
I don’t know man, maybe I have a problem with the spelling of ‘luv’ and ‘storys’ or maybe Jay and Simran really won’t last. Opposites do attract, but to they sustain? I really don’t think so.
7) Lucky and Sanjana (Main Hoon Na)
Firstly, Lucky doesn’t deserve someone as smart as Sanjana. Most importantly, he fell in love with her only post her make-over done by Chandni. That’s not true love yo!
