Deepika Padukone is currently basking in the afterglow of her recent success, Piku. The actress has been giving back-to-back super hits for a couple of years and naturally, she’s on an all-time high! But things are panning out slightly differently for her ex-boyfriend and close pal, Ranbir Kapoor. His last releases, Besharam, Roy and the recent Bombay Velvet didn’t exactly weave magic at the box-office. And though the talented actor is far from being deterred, he’s obviously slightly upset with the way his movies have been been faring lately. Naturally, when DP threw a bash post the success of Piku, the latter and his girlfriend Katrina Kaif gave it a miss. However, the filmmakers of Bombay Velvet, Anurag Kashyap, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl were very much present at the do.
When asked about Ranbir’s absence, DP told Mumbai Mirror:
Only Vikramaditya Motwane was away in Cannes. I also invited Ranbir and Katrina (Kaif) but I can understand them not wanting to party since I’ve gone through similar phases in my career. I will never do anything to hurt Ranbir. He’d talk to me about Bombay Velvet during Tamasha, admitting it was a difficult character even for a brilliant actor like him. I’ve yet to see the film but it belonged to friends of mine and I empathize with their pain, I think the negativity surrounding it is unfair.
True that!
