They’re here! And this time, they’re in Malaysia! The IIFA awards are like the Cannes Film Festival of India and every year, in different locations, they give us everything from awards, to fashion shows and a whole lot of parties. As the stars all gather in one location, it’s like a big Bollywood bash.
The press conference for the awards was held at the Grand Hyatt last evening, with Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor in attendance. Here’s what we found out and are looking forward to, did I mention we’ll be bringing you updated LIVE from the event?
1. Arjun Kapoor & Ranveer Singh are hosting the show
After their AiB knockout and their little stint on Koffee With Karan, we just can’t get enough of Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. I’ll be honest, they excite us more than Ranveer and Deepika Padukone together! The babas are back and I bet they’ll be better than ever.
2. Where there’s Bollywood, there’s fashion
On day one of the three day event, the IIFA Fashion Extravaganza will showcase a ramp show with Masaba Gupta and Rocky S featuring their collections. Did I mention the showstoppers? It’s Bipasha Basu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Qureshi and a bunch of others. Of course there’s a party after!
3. IIFA Rocks – no, really!
You don’t get just one day of performances, there are two! IIFA Rocks will be hosted by Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra and the list of performers ranges from Sonakshi Sinha and Jacqueline Fernandez to Mika and Kanika Kapoor. A lot of Jumme Ki Raat and Baby Doll coming our way!
4. The green carpet
I don’t know about everyone else, but this is actually my favourite part. The celebrities bring out all their style guns and while Deepika Padukone or Sonam Kapoor always win our fashion hearts, every year brings something new and I can’t wait to find out who’s wearing what! P.S. Remember when Kareena Kapoor wore THIS Giorgio Armani stunner?!?
5. The International guests
Last year, we saw Kevin Spacey and John Travolta shake a leg on stage, we don’t have confirmation on who it’s going to be this year but we’re open to guesses – have any idea?
Apart from these, there are music workshop and a screening of Dil Dhadakne Do which we can’t wait to see. It’s safe to say that this year is going to blow our minds and like I said, stay tuned for LIVE updates!
