The Academy Awards 2015 just got over and let’s just say, there’s a reason why people from this side of the world willingly wake up at 5.30am to watch the show. Neil Patrick Harris was charming and his opening act was spectacular, but my list of top moments includes the unexpected things: the things that shocked, awed or simply made us really happy! Here are my top moments from the Oscars 2015.
1) Lupita Nyong’o’s dress.
6,000 pearls! Made of 6,000 pearls! Wow.
2) Lady Gaga’s Gloves.
Hey, maybe she was just cleaning up stuff and forgot to take them off!
3) “Tonight we honour Hollywood’s whitest – sorry, brightest talent.”
The Oscars have been under fire for not having enough people of colour in their nominations… so that was Neil Patrick Harris just putting it out there.
4) Benedict Cumberbatch drinking!
Actually Benedict Cumberbatch doing anything is wonderful <3
5) Adam Levine!
Okay, this is a biased list for all my crushes, but come on man he’s Adam Levine! He sang ‘Lost Stars‘ with so many feelings!
6) EVERYTHING IS AWESOMEEEE!!!
I’m still sad that The Lego Movie was snubbed in the Best Animated Movie category, so this performance made me really happy – and totally woke me up. Especially Will Arnett as Batman singing ‘Darkness, no parents‘ in his trademark voice. Best. Thing. Ever.
7) Patricia Arquette’s speech
It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.
Touché
8) Interstellar won something!
This grossly under nominated masterpiece finally won a trophy; made me happy.
9) John Travolta and Idina Menzel!
Remember last year when John Travolta called Idina Menzel…Adele Dazeem? Yep! The Oscars reunited these two and the result was hilarious!
10) Common and John Legend’s speech.
The artists won the Best Original Song for ‘Glory‘ from the movie Selma and spoke about the racism that still persists in the United States. It broke our hearts and received a standing ovation!
11) LADY GAGA!
Dude. I mean, wow. Her performance on the Sound Of Music medley was the best musical performance of the night! Sorry Adam Levine. Love this meme of Gaga on Julie Andrews body, because why not?
12) This moment!
After Lady Gaga’s brilliant performance, Julie Andrews came on stage to announce the Best Original Soundtrack but not before giving Gaga the tightest hug ever <3 <3
13) Graham Moore’s heartwarming speech.
Stay weird, stay different and pass it on.
He won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and our hearts by opening about his suicide attempt.
14) Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore winning best actor and actress.
Aww!
Yay! We got this one right.
15) Neil Patrick Harris turning up on stage in tighty whiteys.
#NakeNeil is the best Neil.
16) And God’s two children blessing us with their presence!
#Blessed to have bearded hot men who look like God, grace us with their presence!
