You know the thing I find most fascinating about life and people in general? That no matter how much we get knocked down, or how much heartbreak we end up dealing with, we still find a way to bounce back, to put ourselves out there again, and to get strong enough to expose our vulnerabilities once more. No one knows this better than Hrithik Roshan – things haven’t exactly been easy for him, but this guy is the definition of positivity. I love reading all his tweets; more than once, I’ve ended up stumbling on one of his tweets that said exactly what I needed to hear at that given time. If you need a pick-me-up – now, or ever – I suggest you take a page out of this guy’s book:
1) Take your pain and play with it
As someone who listens to sad music just to wallow, this is a really refreshing way to look at things. I’ve never thought about it this way before, but it’s so true. We can do so much through our pain.
2) Be happy right NOW; everything else will follow
Make happiness the goal, the process, the journey, the everything. Don’t base your happiness on any thing (or anybody) – be happy now, and everything right will flow into your life.
3) Embrace your imperfections
If Hrithik Roshan says you’re beautiful – yeah, you’re beautiful. Stop seeing your imperfections in a negative light.
4) Hope is enough
Shitty things will happen, but hope will be enough to get you out of it. To quote another fantastic person – J K Rowling – “we have the power to imagine better.”
5) Give your best, no matter what
Honestly, at the end of the day, you’re only answerable to yourself. Did you do the best you could? If yes, take comfort in that. That’s all you ever needed to do.
6) Remember to laugh at yourself!
Like they say, no one gets out alive anyway. So lighten up a little and don’t take yourself so seriously.
7) Every failure is an opportunity to grow
See failures and heartbreak as opportunities – something to learn from, something to help you grow. I love the way Hrithik has put it here – “you can only touch the skies with broken wings.” Beautiful. And I think it’s so cool that he’s built his brand, HRX, on these very principles.
8) NEVER give in to the negativity
Keep love and happiness in your heart wherever you go. Try your best not to be sucked into anyone else’s negativity.
9) Remember to show gratitude
Gratitude is the greatest multiplier. Even if you don’t believe in the Law of Attraction, you can’t deny that just thinking about the things you’re grateful for can help you feel happier and better immediately. And sometimes that’s all you need.
10) Love. Love. Love. Always love.
The most important one. Nothing works without love. Everything you do, do it with love.
Happy birthday, Hrithik – thank you for all the inspiration.
