I’m back and man, it feels good! The first party I attended (under the radar of course!) was Gaurav Gupta’s Paradigm Shift exhibition with the Delhi Art Gallery. It was attended by a glamorous mix of guests from the fashion scene. While the guests dressed to impress, I examined the ‘fantasy’ behind their black carpet wardrobe choices!
Gaurav Gupta
As the host and curator for ‘Paradigm Shift’, Gaurav Gupta looked the part. Doctor Closet sees a stark goth video game bad-ass feel in GG’s outfit. With zipper details and studded shoes with Gupta’s trademark half buzz, the designer sure owned the fantasy he speaks so fondly of.
Himarsha Venkatswamy
Fashion model and Roar star, Himarsha Venkataswamy nailed the drama-fantasy element. Her look seemed like a glamorous impersonation of the black widow. On the black carpet, Venkatswamy stood strong and deliciously poisonous.
Anaita Shroff Adajania
When you’re one of the most influential names in Indian fashion, you live a life wrapped in fashion fantasy. Anaita Shroff Adajania wrapped her version of fantasy in the form of a full length Gaurav Gupta coat over a pair of jeans and a tank top. Getting away with jeans and tee at a press heavy event is quite a task in itself and the Doctor applauds her for it!
Bandana Tewari
Bandana Tewari’s version of a black carpet fantasy screamed disco diva from the 70s! And rightfully so, it showcased Tewari’s fabulous firecracker of a personality. I mean, we all know the girl works hard and loves to dance the night away!
Manasi Scott
Every event needs its very own ‘aha!’ moment and Manasi Scott embodied that part in total control. Fierce and feminine, she rocked the plunging neckline look by Gaurav Gupta in a way that said, “I’m here and that’s that!”
Aparna Badlani
Atosa’s Aparna Badlani has first-hand access to some of the best designer names in the country that retail at her store. For this night out, she seemed to have switched into a fashion priestess mode. The mustard de-structured dress reminded me of a chic version of a costume from a M. Night Shyamalan film. Black Carpet Fantasy theme…nailed!
Suchitra Pillai
You can’t have a black carpet fantasy theme without a lady of dark magic showing up. Suchitra Pillai filled that void in her silver form-fitting look with a sheer deep-neck drop. Sorceress on a prowl? Meow!
Prasad Ramamurthy
Doctor really digs Condé Nast Traveller India’s Prasad Ramamurthy’s wardrobe choice for the evening. He looked like an adorable boy who wandered out of a story book into real life. Tres chic!
Carol Gracias
Fashion’s favorite girl, Carol Gracias stepped in as a dark temptress and the Doctor’s not surprised with her choice. She fits the brief! She’s tall and knows how to switch the heat on or dial up the cool like a true temptress.
Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon
Ever watched a Tim Burton film? That’s how Bungalow 8’s Mattiew Leguillon worked his black fantasy look with a glittering black mini tie, an almost baggy pair of trousers and a diner jacket. He also had a mustache to add that little detail!
And here’s a quick look at what some of the other guests at the event rocked. What do you think of their outfit choices?

Frankly, Doctor Closet expected to see a lot more drama with a dress code like black carpet fantasy. A big high five to those who managed to work the theme #LikeABoss. Who, according to you, nailed the theme? Tell us in the comments below. And as for the Doctor, he’ll see you soon!
