Now we’ve all acknowledged Arjun Kapoor for his acting skills. He was great in 2 States with Alia Bhatt and I really enjoyed his act in Finding Fanny. As an actor, top points; but when I say ‘fashion’, he isn’t generally the Kapoor that comes to your head. Up next for Arjun is a movie called Tevar and while I might go see the movie, his clothes aren’t what I’m going to see the movie for. So when I saw that he was the new face of Flying Machine, the style bells in my head started ringing and I HAD to get some questions answered. Cut to an interview with a very shirtless Arjun himself… oh calm down, it was over the phone; how did I know he was chatting away bare-chested? You’ll have to read on to find out.
Team MissMalini (Team MM): Hey Arjun, I’m about to ask you some style questions, you ready?
Arjun Kapoor (AK): Oh God, I don’t think I belong on those style sections of MissMalini.com
Team MM: Don’t worry, these are super easy, I promise!
AK: Ok shoot.
Team MM: Are you a compulsive shopper?
AK: Yes definitely. In my profession you don’t get enough time to do what you want, so when I shop I really shop. Also before I lost all my weight, I’d just buy one style and stick to it, now there’s so much to choose from.
See, now you feel our pain Arjun, women go through this EVERY time they shop – we were born compulsive shoppers.
Team MM: What was the last thing you bought?
AK: I bought a leather bomber jacket from Burberry when I was in Istanbul and a pair of Gucci shoes.
Team MM: Is there that one thing you can’t stop yourself from buying every time you enter a store?
AK: Definitely sunglasses, I love them.
So paparazzi, when you see him with his eyes covered every time you try to get pictures, don’t take it personally, he’s just trying to use what he’s bought.
Team MM: Is there any celebrity out there whose style you’d love to steal?
AK: David Beckham! It’s his personality that makes him so stylish. He has this very nonchalant air around him like he almost doesn’t know he’s so stylish and that I feel just makes him more fashionable.
When he said David Beckham, I asked him if it was his H&M ad that made him so stylish according to Arjun…. That would top my list, no?
Team MM: In that case, is there any celebrity who you might have met and wished you had worn the outfit they were wearing?
AK: Hmm, I don’t really remember. Wait! I really liked the checked suit Saqib Saleem wore to the GQ Awards. I could see myself wearing that.
Team MM: Apart from denim, do you have a go-to piece of clothing?
AK: I’d definitely wear a t-shirt over a shirt. It’s more comfortable.
P.S. It was at this point, he decided to let me know he wasn’t wearing a t-shirt and was just sitting around in his jeans. Thanks Arjun, I definitely needed that piece of information.
Team MM: At Team MissMalini, we love double denim, have you tried it yet?
AK: Yes, I have actually, I really like the look. I feel like denim is a very manly fabric.
Team MM: Who would be the most stylish woman in Bollywood according to you?
AK: Well Sonam (Kapoor) has always been a great dresser, since the beginning, I also feel like Deepika’s (Padukone) clothes really define her personality which is great. Even Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on that note dress really well. Anushka Sharma‘s style is so effortless and casual, especially when she’s not on camera.
Hmm, quite the people pleaser isn’t he?
Team MM: Tell us about your shoot for Flying Machine.
AK: It was a fun shoot, I really liked the concept. My favourite pieces from the shoot were a red check shirt and the leather jacket. Rhea Kapoor (his cousin) styled the shoot which was great, I liked having her around! There’s also a green V-neck tee that I liked too. The clothes are really wearable and not unrealistic at all.
Watch this space, I’m about to show you some behind the scenes photos from his new shoot for Flying Machine; you’re going to LOVE them!
