You know exactly what type of movies we’re talking about: the films that are so bad, you actually have to watch them because all the unintentional hilarity makes for some good, good fun. As part of her new Film Companion project, popular critic and film buff Anupama Chopra kicks off a list series by taking a look at five Bollywood films that are “so staggeringly awful that they become joyous, unintentional comedy.” Here are her picks – check them out and let us know whether you agree!
Her countdown of the films:
5. Karzzzz (2008)
Anupama quote: “Director Satish Kaushik mangled the film beyond recognition.”
4. Zanjeer (2013)
Anupama quote: “Apoorva Lakhia’s remake is a sacrilege.
3. Rudraksh (2004)
Anupama quote: “[Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover] forgot to tell us that the rakshash would have a permanently bad hair day.”
2. Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyon (2010)
Anupama quote: “For me, Dunno Y is the gift that just keeps on giving.”
1. Clerk (1989)
Anupama quote: “Awful films come and go, but Clerk is the gold standard of the so-bad-they’re-good films.”
If you had to add one film to the list, which would it be? Jaani Dushman (2002) would make it on mine.
