From the whispers I’ve been hearing, Shakun Batra‘s next film after Ek Main Aur Ek Tu is supposed to be a coming-of-age story about a guy who comes out of the closet at a family function. The buzz that’s doing the rounds is that Sidharth Malhotra has been shortlisted for one of the parts – it is a two-hero project – although Shakun went on record earlier this month to say that casting is still in the initial stages.
However, it seems that his first choice for this project was Imran Khan, although things did not work out on that front. There is now talk that the second male lead role will be filled by Saif Ali Khan, who will play Sidharth’s brother in the film. I know that this story is extremely close to producer Karan Johar‘s heart, and he wants it to be made exactly as the script is written without any changes. Someone has also told me that, given the subject of the film, it’s possible Sid may be seen locking lips with another guy on-screen.
We’re liking the sound of this film – it’s not really territory we’ve explored in Bollywood yet, and Shakun showed with Ek Main Aur Ek Tu that he’s capable of handling a story in a fresh way. The question is, would you like to see Sid as part of this film?
