When we interviewed Arjun Kapoor on all the work that he’s doing currently, we also snuck in a few of your questions from Twitter! The actor answered your queries, and told us about the Bollywood roles he would’ve loved to do, which heroine he’s dying to work with, and which yesteryear actress he wishes he could romance. Plus, he revealed to us that he is considering joining Twitter, so that should give you all something to smile about!
From Twitter: Any Bollywood role in the past 5 years that you would have loved to do?
AK: [thinks] You know… I’m such a filmy person by nature that I would have loved to do Agneepath if Hrithik Roshan was not in the mood to do it. I think he’s just done it so bloody well, that I cheered and whistled and clapped when I watched the film thrice in one week. And Kaminey… just because I think that kind of genre is very untapped in our country. Shahid is, again, unbelievable – it’s his best performance till date. But if Shahid was not available, then I would have jumped at that role. And Barfi also, ya. Very daring. The fact that you can’t even speak in a film and still hold your own… do what Ranbir has done. I loved all 3 of these performances, so the reason I’m saying these 3 films is because I wish to do films like these. It comes from that excitement.
Team MM: That’s interesting because they’re all 3 very different kinds of films.
AK: Correct. That’s my aspiration at the end of the day as an actor. I can only do that over a course of time. Unfortunately, you get pigeon-holed into images in conversations. The only way you can change that is by your work. I hope to get the kind of work that doesn’t pigeon-hole me and allows me to experiment. I would love to experiment. That’s the point of being an actor – you get to live vicariously through all these actors.
From Twitter: One heroine you’d love to work with?
AK: I’m very unabashed about the fact that I’m dying to work with Kareena.
From Twitter: If you had a chance to romance a yesteryear actress – like Madhuri, Juhi, Raveena, etc – who would it be?
AK: I think Sonali Bendre was stunning. I had a huge crush on her when I saw her films. She would be one I’d love to romance.
Team MM: Lastly, your fans on Twitter asked us to give you their love! Any message you’d like us to pass on?
AK: You can give them an inkling that I’m actually sort of contemplating coming on Twitter, now that there’s been such vehement support… almost scolding me for not being on Twitter. I think that’s the one thing everybody keeps asking me. I may be changing my stance on that.
Team MM: You should! It’s fun.
AK: I know, but unfortunately I’m fiercely private. I just feel that when you’re doing so much work and are out there interacting with people, you want to hold on to certain things. And I love the quality of having face-to-face interactions – I feel like that quality is dying slowly. I kind of feel I’d end up losing that because all my thoughts would be on Twitter anyway. Anyway, I’m contemplating it – I’ve not shut that door. If anything, it’s started to open. Maybe that change will happen soon.
Team MM: Your fans will be very happy. When we asked for questions, most of them were messages saying please ask him to join Twitter.
AK: Please tell them that I am thinking about it. I don’t know when it’ll happen, but I contemplating it.
