It looks like Katrina Kaif is all set to start off 2014 on a good note. The actress, we are told, is making a very deliberate attempt to pick roles that are different for her and will showcase her talents in various ways. She has already begun this process with Jagga Jasoos and Phantom, but is determined to break out of the mould that she’s been put in, and therefore has become very choosy with the scripts that she is being offered. Industrywalla spills the beans on how Kat has been changing her approach to picking films.
Industrywalla says: Katrina Kaif will be seen in two totally opposite roles in her upcoming films Jagga Jasoos and Phantom. In Anurag Basu‘s Jagga Jasoos with her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, Kat will be seen in the role of a news reporter. On the other hand, in Kabir Khan‘s political thriller, Phantom, she will be playing a United Nations aid worker with co-star Saif Ali Khan.
She is planning on continuing to pick a variety of scripts. I am told that Katrina is on a desperate look out for different roles that don’t stereotype her as the “Barbie doll” that she is sometimes categorised as. Katrina is now concentrating on reading scripts and only picking up roles that appeal to her. In fact, in the last three months, she has said a resounding NO to more than five films that required her to play the girl next door, or involved her simply romancing her co-star. Some of these roles have already gone to other actresses.
While Phantom and Jagga Jasoos might be different, she will be back on familiar territory once she re-starts the shoot of Bang Bang (which is the Knight and Day remake) with Hrithik Roshan. This film will have her wearing scorching hot clothes and doing some dare devil stunts!
