Gaurav Gupta’s show on day five of Delhi Couture Week was called “Lightfall” and it had some beautiful moments and some disappointing.
Starting with a dare to bare gown. Black and beaded long dress,it made a statement of sheer sizzling style.
Of course there were sari gowns and lehenga gowns, something which has become his signature. Unfortunately a few of the fabrics lacked finesse.
Lamé is something he loves but sometimes this material can be a little too much. Trails were favored but also sometime made models a little uncomfortable when walking.
It was jackets worn with tulle skirts which caught your eye. He used weave, zardosi, and lace. These were pure modern Indianwear. The orange Benares jacket with an ombre dyed skirt was a piece every bride-to-be should have.
Closing the show was Kalki Kochelin, in a gold glittering beaded gown. This was the first time Gaurav has used a showstopper. She made for a perfect muse for Gaurav Gupta, thanks to her natural quirky take on fashion.
