Freida Pinto was back in Mumbai recently and took the opportunity to sit front row at Naeem Khan’s first ever show in India. The last time she attended LFW was way back in 2010 for Christopher Kane. We caught up with her backstage, just before she was about to take her seat amidst the last minute model fittings. Wearing a fall/winter 2013 dress from Khan’s collection, the charming actress blew me away with her poise and grace. Watch the interview!
Psst! There’s also transcript of the conversation below:
Team MissMalini: Tell us about your personal style.
Freida Pinto (FP): I try to keep my style as classy and classic as possible. Because that is innately me. I don’t want to pretend to be something else even though I’m experimenting with fashion, I try to keep it within the boundaries of the classic sense
TeamMM: Who are your favourite Indian designers?
FP: There are so many and so talented – all of them especially the younger ones. Well Atsu…. I absolutely love Atsu , I love Shivan & Narresh And you know who else I do like? The Manish Malhotras and the Tarun Tahilianis, because they have done so much for the typical Indian garment and I really really appreciate what they’ve do as well.
TeamMM: What do you love most about Naeem Khan’s creations?
FP: Gosh, everything he does is so heavenly and so magical his embroidery is so impeccable. The finish in every gown is just… you will never see a thread out of place. That is how much attention to detail he actually gives to his garments. You know, the fact that he makes a woman feel like a woman in his gowns – I think that’s the most beautiful thing.
TeamMM: What’s the secret to your flawless complexion?
FP: Oooh! I try and sleep as much as I can! I think sleep is the real healer. I try and get as much sleep as possible.
TeamMM: What’s next in the pipeline in terms of films?
FP: I have a film coming out at the end of the year, and I’m quite excited about it…. It’s called Desert Dancer and probably next year I’ll have another film coming out.
