Rajmata Gayatri Devi was probably India’s first style icon. She was described by Vogue (US) magazine as one of the world’s top 10 most beautiful women. Her style was impeccable – chiffon saris always draped over her head (as it was custom for all Indian princesses to cover their hair) and a string of pearls. Designer Sabyasachi drew inspiration from this and created a special line for the launch of the coffee table book.
The event was held at Rambagh Palace on which the coffee table book is centered around. Written by Dharmendar Kamwar and illustrated by Bharath Ramamrutham.
Hasn’t he done justice to her style?
